Pebble Mobile App

Pebble Mobile App
It is in our genetic make-up as humans to minimize financial outlays while maximizing satisfaction. Comparatively, many people dislike getting debit alerts but would check their phones immediately if they received a credit alert. The prime motive behind the development of the Pebble app was to provide its users with the convenience of not having to use their own funds when making purchases, earning Extra Cash from those transactions, and then using that Extra Cash to fund subsequent purchases.
I was the primary designer who brought the entire UI concept to life in partnership with Mr. Niyi, the product owner, and by the time the mobile UI was finished, we had already taken on two other UI/UX design professionals who are working on the product’s website landing page and the web version of the app.
The Problem
When I initially met with Mr. Niyi and his coworker, Miss. Abimbola, he explained his project’s overarching purpose in detail. We subsequently set up a series of Video Chat to talk about the most pressing issues facing his target audience. It felt like we were attempting to address a need, while also introducing something novel to the rapidly developing Fintech industry.
The Goal
To simplify and reward consumers’ access to its platform’s offerings, which include products, airtime, bills, and internet. As a result, it is possible to amass what is known as a Credit Score from the money spent. In exchange for maintaining a credit score over a particular threshold, the app will reward the user with a set amount of Extra Cash that can be used to make in-app purchases. Thus, by utilizing the app, customers effectively receive Bonus Money with which to make purchases.
This entire user interface’s design was technically intricate. It was a blank slate, and I had to come up with a completely original concept by researching any and all similar items I could discover, while also maintaining frequent communication with Mr. Niyi to learn more about his aims and how my design concepts met those goals.

Newly designed Pebble app home page
We aimed to make it clear what the app is for by giving it clean, uncluttered interfaces that highlight important information such as the user’s current credit score and the remaining amount of points needed to unlock an Extra Cash to make purchases. The app gives users’ access to the most recent information from merchants who have registered on the app, while they can also interact with other users through the app’s built-in social features.

Research
For the new “Cash back” feature to function as intended, I looked into competitor products like Lumi and Ibotta and gathered data from users. User expertise proved crucial as I conducted these researches. The app was intended to ensure that users could simply get started on the platform and that people with little to no tech knowledge could navigate the app and use the “learn more” button to discover the app’s features.

In order to keep track of each user’s account, a unique number is produced from their provided phone number at the time of registration. The next step is for the user to make their first deposit and make a purchase in order to begin building their Credit Score. Users can spend the Extra Cash to make in-app purchases as soon as the Credit Score threshold is met. Once the customer reaches a new goal, their Credit Score is updated to reflect the new target amount and a new, hopefully larger Extra Cash offer.
Features
Free Generated Pebble Card
Unlike your regular bank cards, Pebble Card does not cost users anything to own or use. No maintenance fee, no replacement fee, no transaction fee.
Unlimited Spending with Pebble Card
Users do not need to borrow money or take loans! Pebble Card gives them access to extra cash for shopping and paying bills, just for using their automatically generated card without collateral or interest.
No Repayment
Pebble Card uses Point for Cash Repayment System which means users only need to rebuild their Credit Score with points from using their cards, to get another extra cash.
Faster Checkout
All users need to complete any transaction, with Pebble Card, is just their phone number which was used to create their Pebble Account. There is no need for a “hard-to-remember” long card number, expiry date or CVV2.
Result
In under two months, I was able to finish the customer-end design of the entire mobile app. I finished a basic prototype and tested it with the team and the newly hired UI/UX designers to bring them up to speed on the product’s features and functionality. The design is currently in the development phase after being given the green light with commendations. In the meantime, the website is also operational, and you may visit https://pebble.ng to learn how the product functions.
